Gaming: Good or Bad?

Gaming. Is it as awful as many think?

Gaming. So much negativity is said about gamers but is it really all true? My husband is a strong gamer. Whenever there is a new game, we have it the day its released. He has even managed to get me( a far from skilled gamer) into playing a few games. It isn't as bad as i thought. You see i used to look down on gamers and games.Saw it as a waste of time and energy. It was even creating a blockage in my marriage as i saw the games as something that got more attention then me, but then i started thinking.
There are many people who think that gaming is terrible because its life consuming and takes a lot of time and for what? Just to receive some little online medal, or fake money? Although this may be true I'm here to tell you that there is a lot more to it than you are realizing. See gaming may take a lot of time, yes, but would you rather your son or daughter be outside getting involved in who knows what instead of at home under your supervision playing these games? Or how bout having your husband out spending money at the bar or club on a daily basis because there is nothing else for him to do? No and no. See gaming is control. It allows you the ability to know where your loved one is and what they are doing rather than worrying they could be out doing something terrible. It's a lot safer than you think, I promise.
Now gaming can become life consuming if you allow it to, but if you control how much you play or allow your children to play it can become a regular hobby.Just set aside game time and then also create time for family games, or family talk.Maybe add in an incentive program where you get so many minutes for every chore done. That way Mom and Dad get what they need while Jr is happy because he gets his game time later.Parents, games can also be great because it is also something you can always take away for punishment.Make the children do well in school, at work, on chores, with siblings, etc.. It's a great tool, even for wives. ;) "wink wink"
Gaming can also be a life builder. It actually teaches your child a lot more then just how to shoot a gun or run around causing destruction. It teaches them teamwork, swift thinking, coordnation, and makes them use their little minds, even when they aren't expecting it.Ive heard people say gaming is just mind control and their children become robots because they just get sucked into these games and out of life, but it's false. They may be focused on what they are doing, but they aren't robots. Every game is different and every challenge is different for each player. It allows the gamer to learn how to think on the spot and react then and there. They have to learn how to create a strategy, act on their plan, and work with others to get to their goal.Trust me,it takes skill, mentally and physically.
Stress release.Safe and protected stress release. You had a rough day, need to vent? Go play your game for a little bit.It distracts the mind from your problems, lets you mingle with your friends, and well take out your anger without physically harming another. Its 100% safe and legal. After venting for a little bit,you can go back to life, feeling much better because you just accomplished your next goal in the game.
There are so many positives about gaming that no one thinks about.Positive use of time, life skills building, stress relief, something the whole family could do together,or even just the fact that it builds on their imagination.I have only named a few.I mean the list just keeps going. Now that I've actually sat down and thought about it,i no longer view gaming as negative in any way, I just see positives.Let me know what you think.Do you think its good or bad?
